Preseason Defensive Back Signee Preview
February 25, 2010 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
Greenville Force News Release
After a slow start in 2009, the FORCE defense shifted personnel until they came up with a winning combination of talent. The Greenville FORCE relied heavily on their defense as the season progressed. In the 14 team AIFA the FORCE finished 3rd in pass defense giving up 162.1 yards per game and 193.8 total yards per game.
The defensive backs are lead by Shaun Sanders, Columbia High, who in seven games had seventeen solo tackles, 2 interceptions, and ten pass breakups. Jarvis Johnson, Rutgers, was also on last year's squad.
The FORCE has also signed Chandler Bailey, North Greenville, Sam Williams, Middle Tennessee State, and Pierre Tolliver, Westside High, to help reinforce the defensive backfield. The FORCE are also still trying to sign several additional players at that position.
Ralph "Pac Man" Scott, SC State, played in twelve games and helped set the tone for the defense once he got his first start the third game of the 2009 season. He will be joined by Titus Curry, Benedict College, played in nine games last year producing 30 tackles and one sack to lead the FORCE linebackers.
Joey Travis Burks has also signed up at the linebacker position. Several other linebackers should be signed before camp starts this weekend.
At that point the FORCE has to start whittling the group back down to the 22 players that will dress on game day before the season starts on March 21 against the Lafayette Wildcatters at the Bi-Lo Center at 3:00pm.
