Force Cancels Scheduled Saturday Game

June 25, 2010 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) - Greenville Force News Release

LAKE CHARLES, LA (JUNE 25, 2010) - The Southern Indoor Football League learned early Friday morning through the Greenville News that the Greenville Force have cancelled their season finale set to take place this Saturday June 26th against the Florida Makos.

Without any notification to the front office of the Southern Indoor Football League, the Greenville Force (2-8) and the Bi-Lo Center both have announced that Saturday's game against the Florida Makos has been cancelled putting an end to Force's 2010 season.

A lot of the credit to completing the 2010 conference schedule has to go to Head Coach Tony Wells and the Director of the Bi-Lo Center Roger Newton. Despite beginning the season 2-0, the Force ended the year on an eight game losing streak going thru a complex time in keeping players together due to financial restrictions. Four different investors were presented, but each time when the SIFL asked for the applied investor's financials the deal ultimately fell thru.

"Hats off to Coach Wells as well as Director Newton for trying to their best in keeping the Force alive this season," says Southern Indoor Football League President Thom Hager. "The SIFL also like to say hats off to the fans and players for their undying support of the club and the sport, their support is what keeps the dream alive."

After spending their inaugural 2009 season in the American Indoor Football Association, the Greenville Force along with the Columbus Lions both signed in September of 2009 to participate in the SIFL for the 2010 season. The SIFL still has future plans when it comes to placing a club in the Greenville market.

"Greenville is a tremendous football market, especially with some big-time universities nearby like Clemson and Furman," continues SIFL President Thom Hager. "The SIFL will look forward and continue searching for solid investors for the Greenville market."

Fans in the Greenville area seeking refunds can do so by going to the point of purchase, beginning at 10 a.m. Monday and for more information, call 864-467-0008.
