Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. (May 9) -- The injury news for the Orlando Predators keeps getting worse. On Wednesday, the Predators placed starting center Justin Cleveland on injured reserve. Cleveland severely sprained the arch in his right foot last week against Georgia and will now miss at least four games. He is eligible to come off of the injured reserve list when the Predators play the New York Dragons on June 9.
Cleveland's spot in the starting line-up will be filled by second-year veteran Delanio Taylor, who was activated from injured reserve on Wednesday. Taylor has spent two different stints on the injured reserve list with knee problems this season.
"Cleve has been our rock at center and it's a tough loss for us," Head Coach Jay Gruden said. "It seems like we have had more than our fair share of injuries this season, but there part of the game and we have to find a way to re-group."
Cleveland's injury marks the fifth starter this season that has had to go on the injury reserved list. Starting guard Jim Sodano has been lost to the season with a knee injury; while starting defensive end Chaz Murphy remains on the disabled list with a hamstring. Starting wide receiver Jimmy Fryzel missed six games with a hamstring injury before returning last week; while starting wide receiver DeAndrew Rubin has missed the last five weeks with a broken arm and remains on the disabled list. In addition, starting defensive end Greg White missed two weeks with an elbow injury.
When Delanio Taylor (6 games) , Clif Dell (6 games-knee), Floyd Young (11 games -ankle) and Cleveland are factored in, nine players will have missed a total of 50 games this season.
The Predators (5-4) return to action this Friday night against the New Orleans VooDoo (4-5) in a key Southern Division match-up. Kickoff time on Hummer Field at the Amway Arena is at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are still available by calling 407-44-PREDS.
