THE GAME:

The Colorado Crush have their shortest turnaround in team history between games as they travel to Nashville to play the Kats on Friday, May 11 at 6:00 p.m. MT. Playing their second game in just five days following a Monday night contest at Chicago, the Crush will be concluding a three-game divisional road swing against Nashville. Earlier this season, Colorado defeated Nashville 55-48 at Pepsi Center in a dramatic fourth quarter comeback.

Colorado had their season-high three-game winning streak snapped by the Rush Monday night 48-59. In the lost the Crush committed two costly turnovers that could not be overcome. Turnovers for the Crush this season have been a strong indicator on the team's success in the wins and losses column. In Colorado's six wins on the season the club has as a +7 turnover margin compared to a -9 turnover margin in their four losses.

The Colorado-Nashville match-up will also feature three players that were honored as AFL Players of the Month for April. Crush DB Rashad Floyd and K Jason Ball won ADT Defensive Player of the Month and Kicker of the Month respectively, while Kats QB Jeff Smoker was awarded the League's Rookie of the Month.

The Nashville Kats will be looking to get back to their winning ways after dropping two straight road games to Dallas and Grand Rapids. This marks the third time this season the Kats have had a two-game losing skid, but each time they have rebounded with a win.

On both sides of the ball for the Kats this season, they have found some League leading playmakers. Nashville FB Dan Alexander is putting together on the best rushing season in AFL history. He currently leads the League with 28 rushing touchdowns (already a new AFL record) and has 99 carries for 209 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, former Crush and present Kats DB Ahmad Hawkins leads the League with 10 interceptions.

HEAD COACHES:

MIKE DAILIEY, Colorado (105-68, 11th Year): Mike Dailey enters his fourth season in Colorado and 11th as head coach in the AFL, after becoming the Crush's second head coach on June 26, 2003. Dailey joined the Crush following 13 seasons in the Albany/Indiana Firebirds organization, including the final seven as head coach.

One of the most successful and well-respected coaches in AFL history, Dailey's teams have compiled an overall record of 105-68 record, a winning percentage of 60.7. His teams have also made eight postseason appearances and he has won five division titles and two championships. Following the Crush's 44-40 victory over Kansas City on March 10, 2007, Dailey became only the fourth head coach in AFL history to surpass the 100 win mark. He currently stands as the league fourth all-time winningest coach.

In his first season in Colorado, Dailey helped guide the Crush to the largest turnaround in AFL history, inheriting a 2-14 team and leading them to an 11-5 record in 2004. In 1999, Dailey led the Albany Firebirds to their only ArenaBowl championship and was named AFL Coach of the Year. Before being named head coach of the Firebirds in 1997, Dailey served as an assistant in Albany for five seasons.

Dailey began his AFL coaching career with the Washington Commandos where he served as offensive/defensive line coach in 1990. He joined the Firebirds organization in the same capacity in 1991.

Prior to the AFL, Dailey worked as an assistant coach at Towson State University and was the offensive coordinator at Montgomery College-Rockville (Md.). Dailey got his start in coaching in 1981 as a 22-year-old assistant at Georgetown Prep High School in Rockville, Md. The move to coaching followed a semi-pro football career in the Washington D.C. area.

PAT SPERDUTO, Nashville (50-42-1, 6th Year): In 2006, Pat Sperduto guided his feisty Kats to the postseason

behind strong defense and sound offensive production. The

Kats are on the right path in 2007, looking to build off this

season's strong defense, solid running attack, last season's

playoff run and take his team back to the ArenaBowl, a place the Kats visited in 2000 and 2001.

Sperduto is the owner of ArenaBowl hardware himself having captured three championships- two as a player and one as a coach. Under Sperduto's tutelage, his teams have ranked in the top 10 in scoring offense, scoring defense, and rushing defense each year he has been head coach of the Kats. Sperduto's coaching has garnered several players recognition from the AFL, most notably, James Baron being named Lineman of the Year (2001) and AFL Defensive Player of the Year (1999), AFL First-Team performers Jarrick Hillery (2001) and James Baron (2001) Ironman of the Year Darryl Hammond (1999) and Support Staff of the Year (2005).

Sperduto was at the helm of the original Kats team from

1999-2001, and joined the coaching and scouting staff of the NFL's Tennessee Titans after the Kats franchise was sold and moved to Atlanta in 2001. In 2004, he was given the responsibility to oversee the startup process of a new AFL team to be placed in Nashville, and in 2005 he returned to the sidelines as head coach and director of football operations for the new Nashville Kats.

LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET:

DENVER (4/1/07)- Robert Thomas' one-yard rushing touchdown with six seconds remaining in the game lifted the Colorado Crush (3-2) to a 55-48 victory over the Nashville Kats (2-3) Sunday afternoon. Colorado closed the game scoring 21 straight points sparked by two huge defense plays in the game's final minute.

With 48 seconds left in the contest and Nashville looking to extend a 48-41 lead, Thomas- the contest's Ironman of the Game- blocked a 30-yard field goal attempt. Four plays later Crush QB John Dutton found Willie Quinnie on a 13-yard touchdown pass to knot the score at 48 all with 32 seconds left on the clock. On the Kats first play of their ensuing possession, Colorado DB Chris Angel hauled in his second interception of the day and returned it to the Nashville one-yard line setting up Thomas' go ahead run.

Colorado controlled most of the first half and led 24-14 with 50 seconds left in the second quarter before Nashville turned the game's momentum completely around. With 27 ticks remaining, Kats FB Dan Alexander rushed in for a nine-yard score cutting the Crush lead to just three points. The Nashville defense then forced a fumble on the Crush's next play setting the stage for a Jeff Smoker to Cornelius Bonner nine-yard touchdown strike and the Kats first lead at 28-24 as the half ended.

Both teams traded scores through the third and majority of the fourth quarters as Nashville hung onto their lead until the game's final dramatics.

CRUSH LAST WEEK:

ROSEMONT, IL (5/7/07) - Two second half turnovers proved to be the difference as the Colorado Crush (6-4) fell to the Chicago Rush (8-1) 48-59 on Monday night. In victory, the Rush captured their team-record eighth straight win and took a two and a half game lead over the Crush in the Central Division.

In a battle of two of the League's top offensive players, Colorado WR Damian Harrell set a new career high with six receiving touchdowns on 10 receptions for 161 yards. Harrell's counterpart, Chicago's Bobby Sippio was named the contest's Offensive Player of the Game finishing with a game-high 15 catches for 159 yards and five scores.

The Crush came out and executed their game plan to perfection in the first quarter taking an early 13-0 lead on touchdown strikes to Harrell and WR Brad Pyatt. It marked the first time all season that the Rush were held scoreless in a quarter.

Both team traded scores throughout the second period as Harrell would add three more touchdowns and Sippio found the endzone twice for Chicago before the break. Colorado held onto a 33-28 advantage at the half despite a missed 49-yard field ball by the Crush's Jason Ball.

Chicago took their first lead of the game on their opening possession of the second half when Sippio hauled in a 19-yard pass from QB Matt D'Orazio. The game's turning point would come later in the quarter when on second down and 22 yards to go Rush DB Dennison Robinson intercepted a John Dutton pass. Chicago would ultimately score the game's next 21 straight points following another Crush turnover, this time inside the five-yardline, on a fumble.

Colorado would trim the lead to eight points at 48-56 with 4:36 left in the contest but Chicago was able to run the clock down and add a final 16-yard field goal by Dan Franz to seal the win.

THINGS TO WATCH:

YOUNG BLOOD:

The Colorado Crush took the field in Week 1 with four rookies on their active roster. Not since head coach Mike Dailey's arrival to Colorado in 2004 has he had that many first-year players on his Crush active roster to begin a season.

The Crush currently have five rookies on their active roster with four of those players starting.

LOCAL TIES:

This season the Crush have found a lot of good-young talent right in their back yard. Here is a list of players that have Colorado ties:

- DL QUINN DORSEY attended Manual High School in Denver.

- FB/LB ANTHONY DUNN attended Centauri High School in Manassa, CO and later played at the University of Northern Colorado.

- OL BRETT HUYSER played his collegiate football at the Air Force Academy.

- WR BRAD PYATT has played football at all three levels of his career in Colorado (Arvada West High School, Northern Colorado and the Crush).

BUILDING A WINNING TRADITION:

The Crush are the winningest team in the AFL regular season since head coach Mike Dailey's arrival, having tied for the league's best record in 2004 (11-5) and finishing with the American Conference's top seed in 2005 (10-6) and 2006 (11-5).

After finishing their inaugural season 0-8 at home, the Crush are now 25-6 under Mike Dailey (2-1 in the postseason) at Pepsi Center. Two of the six losses consist of a field goal in overtime (42-45) vs. Indiana in 2004 and a 51-48 Chicago win in 2005 on a field goal with three seconds remaining.

LET'S MAKE IT THREE:

Last season, Colorado was the only team to repeat as a division champion. This year, they'll look to become the first team since the New York Dragons (2003-2005) to repeat as divisional champions in three consecutive seasons.

Since 2004, the Crush have allowed just 21 sacks in their last 48 regular season games (total of 2,319 plays).

IT'S NOT OVER TILL IT'S OVER:

Since head coach Mike Dailey has arrived in Colorado in 2004, the Crush have claimed victory in the final minute of the game in seven contests.

- vs. Georgia (6/12)- K Clay Rush connects on a 20-yard field goal as time expires to give the Crush a 56-48 victory in ArenaBowl XIX.

2006

- vs. Chicago (1/29)- QB John Dutton hits WR Damian Harrell for a touchdown with one second remaining as the Crush go on to win 65-56.

- at Georgia (2/5)- QB John Dutton finds WR Damian Harrell for a 13-yard touchdown with 45 seconds left to lift Colorado to a 61-59 victory.

2007

- vs. Nashville (4/1)- Down by seven points (41-48) with 50 seconds left, Crush FB/LB Robert Thomas blocks a Kats 30-yard field goal attempt as Colorado scores four plays later to tie the game 48-48. Then Crush DB Chris Angel intercepts a Nashville pass with 32 seconds left and returns it to the Kats one-yard line. Thomas rushes in with six seconds remaining to lift Colorado to a 55-48 victory.
