Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. (June 6, 2006) -- Orlando Predators WR/LB DeAndrew Rubin and DS Khalil Carter have been named the Arena Football League's " US Army Ironman of the Week" and "ADT Defensive Player of the Week" for their play in last weekend's National Conference Football Championship.
Rubin had a 55-yard kickoff return for touchdown, batted down one pass and had an interception; while Carter picked off a pair of passes and returned one 33-yards for a touchdown as the Predators defense recorded five turnovers in the 45-28 upset win.
Carter and Rubin were part of a defense that limited All-Arena quarterback Clint Dolezel to just one touchdown pass. Dolezel came into the game with 105 TD passes in the regular season. It was the lowest point total for Dallas in nearly two seasons and more 30 points under their league-leading scoring average of 58.1 points per game.
Chicago QB Matt D'Orazio, who will face the Predators this weekend in ArenaBowl XX, was named the league's "Offensive Player of the Week." He completed 21 of 31 passes for 215 yards and six touchdowns as Chicago won their third consecutive road playoff game with a 59-56 win over San Jose. D'Orazio also ran for one touchdown.
