Predators Sign Four Players
September 20, 2010 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Orlando Predators News Release
Today began the unrestricted free agent period in the Arena Football League. The Predators were very busy. A total of four players signed today. Highlighting the group is 2007 AFL Kicker of the Year Mark Lewis.
Lewis is a Central Florida native. Growing up in Longwood, he played his high school football at Lyman High School. The Predators now have two Lyman graduates on the team, the other being defensive lineman Mark Robinson.
In 2007, Lewis was named AFL Kicker of the Year and First Team All-Arena. Lewis' career numbers include a 55.2 field goal percentage and 88.6 extra point percentage. Lewis spent 2010 with the Dallas Vigilantes. He led the league in extra point percentage last season, making 101 of his 107 attempts or 94.4%. He ranked third with 0.6 field goals per game, just behind last year's Predators kicker Carlos Martinez.
Lewis is not the only new Predator with local ties. New signing Sergio Joachim is a former UCF wide receiver, playing with the Knights from 2004 to 2007. Joachim spent time with the Predators last season, but did not see game action. He is a versatile player with big upside, capable of playing both receiver and linebacker. Joachim was not eligible to be signed by the Predators during the restricted period because he was released prior to the season's conclusion.
Two returning Predators also signed today. FB/LB Marlon Moye-Moore is already a Predators legend, but looks to add to his legacy in 2011. Fullback James Lynch was new to Orlando in 2010, but quickly made an impact. Although he was primarily a blocking fullback, Lynch provided one of the highlights of the 2010 season with his 36-yard touchdown run in the playoffs against Jacksonville.
