Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO - The Orlando Predators have agreed to terms with veteran defensive back Fred Shaw, the franchise has announced. Shaw has registered 27 interceptions over the past five seasons and earned Second-Team All-Arena accolades in 2013.
"Fred is one of the elite players in the Arena Football League at his position. There are few defenders who can impact a game the way he does," said Head Coach Rob Keefe. "Fred is a playmaker in the secondary and adds veteran experience to our defense. I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to coach him this season."
Now entering his sixth season in the AFL, Shaw (6-2, 220, Central Oklahoma State) has scored five touchdowns on interception returns in his career while gaining 404 yards. He has totaled 328.5 tackles with two stops for loss, six forced fumbles, and 45 pass breakups. Shaw spent the past three seasons with the San Antonio Talons before being traded to the Philadelphia Soul midway through the 2014 campaign.
Shaw was named a Second-Team All-Arena performer after posting 11 interceptions and 16 pass breakups in 2013. Prior to joining San Antonio, he delivered six interceptions for the Tulsa Talons in 2011. Shaw entered the Arena Football League as a rookie in 2010 with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz.
