Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO, FL - The Orlando Predators have acquired defensive lineman T.J. Fatinikun in a trade with the Portland Thunder, the franchise announced today. The transaction completes a previous trade that sent wide receiver Jeffrey Solomon from Orlando back to Portland in exchange for future considerations.
"T.J. adds a lot of speed and energy to our defensive front," said Head Coach Rob Keefe. "He's a relentless pass rusher and has the ability to play multiple positions for us. We're excited to add a player of his caliber."
In just his rookie season in the Arena Football League, Fatinikun (6-2, 250, Toledo) made his presence felt as a Mac linebacker and defensive end for Portland. Through nine games, he registered 16 total tackles with 2.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Fatinikun played four seasons at the University of Toledo and collected 101 total tackles, including 10.5 sacks, 25 tackles for loss and seven forced fumbles. His most successful season came as a sophomore in 2010, when he earned all-conference accolades after delivering 51 stops with five sacks, 13 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles.
Prior to entering the AFL, Fatinikun attended rookie minicamp with the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2013 offseason.
The Orlando Predators hit the road in Week 12, traveling to take on the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday, May 31st. The matchup can be viewed live ESPN3 and WatchESPN, with coverage from Wells Fargo Arena beginning at 8:30 p.m. EST.
