Power pull away scoring four times in the seventh

Lexington, KY (JUNE 23, 2005) - The West Virginia Power and Lexington Legends were tied at 3-3 going into the top of the seventh inning of Thursday night's game at Applebee's Park. The West Virginia Power scored four runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth inning to beat the Legends by the final score of 9-3.

Freddy Parejo drove in the first run of the game on an RBI double in the top of the third inning. Alcides Escobar drove him in during the very next at bat on an RBI single to give the Power a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the third Lexington tied it at 2-2. Brian Triplett hit an RBI double and scored later in the inning when Alcides Escobar bobbled a ground ball hit by Beau Torbert. The Power took the lead again in the top of the fourth inning on Josh Brady's RBI double to give the Power a 3-2 advantage. In the bottom of the sixth inning the Lexington Legends pulled off a double steal with runners on first and third. Mitch Einertson drew a throw from catcher Carlos Corporan and Francisco Caraballo scored on the throw down to second base. In the top of the seventh inning the Power sent eight batters to the plate and scored four times. Alcides Escobar's RBI single knocked in the first run of the inning to put the Power on top for good. Josh Brady and Will Lewis contributed with RBI singles in the seventh and Grant Richardson drove in a run on an RBI double. In the top of the eighth inning the Power added two more runs on Freddy Parejo's RBI double and Alcides Escobar's sac fly RBI.

Justin Barnes (4-1) earned the victory and Ryan Thompson (2-4) obtained the loss. The Power improve to 1-2 in the second half with the win and the Legends fall to 2-1 with the loss.

The Power will continue the series against the Lexington Legends on Friday night at Applebee's Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Right Handed pitcher Mark Rogers (0-5, 4.50) will throw for the Power and the Legends will counter with right-handed pitcher Jimmy Barthmaier (6-2, 1.98). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
