Mississauga Power News Release

(Mississauga, ON - ) Over 1300 students from three different school boards across the GTA were up on their feet chanting "D-FENCE" as the clock wound down and the Power took home the 118-102 win during the team's School Day Game this afternoon. For the Power, Morgan Lewis was two short of his career high with 37 points. "Captain" Kirk Williams Jr. added 24 points and 3 steals while Dwight McCombs chipped in with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Flenard Whitfield led the A's with 18 points.

The teams played evenly in the first quarter, with Brampton taking a two point lead into the second quarter. The teams continued to battle in the second until the Power clamped down defensively and went on a 10-0 run halfway through second. The Power ended the quarter with a small 52-48 lead heading into halftime.

The A's started the third strong, going on a 10-2 run, clawing their way back to a 4 point lead. It looked like either team could take the game, as the Power went into the final quarter with a two point lead. The Power pulled out a strong 18-4 run halfway through the quarter. Morgan Lewis scored 12 of his 37 points in the fourth to lead the Power to the win, their first against cross-town rival Brampton.

The Power would like to thank Samsung Canada, Wacky Wings Eatery and Rogers Uptown Wireless for helping to provide an energetic fan experience for all the students.

The Power have a week off and will return to the Hershey Centre on February 6th to take on the Saint John Mill Rats, who currently sit on top of the Atlantic division.
