Mississauga Power News Release
(Mississauga, ON-) The Power played their first home game since January 16th tonight, returning home from an east coast trip. Despite a strong scoring performance in the third and a much awaited home court game, the Power just could not get it done at home, being outscored 117-100 by the Lightning. The Power's leader for the night was Kirk Williams Jr. who had a strong 27 point game, Greg Plummer put in an impressive 23 point night. Garrett Williamson led the Lightning with 25 points.
The Lightning came right out of the gate with an 22-4 run to start the first quarter. The Power managed to show some life with a 12-5 run, cutting the Lightning's lead to 11 after one quarter.
In the second, the Lightning only proved to be stronger, scoring 28 points in the quarter as the Power struggled to just 18 points. The Lightning built up a 22 point lead, en route to a 55-33 halftime lead.
The start of the second half told a different story with the Power fighting back with an impressive run. The quarter ended with a 83-67 lead for the Lightning after the Power managed to outscore the Lightning by six in the quarter.
The two teams played evenly in the fourth, with the Lightning outscoring the Power by just one point. It would be enough however, as the Lightning took home the 117-100 win.
The loss drops the Power to 8-23 for the season. The Power will host the Brampton A's in a special school day game on January 30th at 11 a.m.
