It has been a tough start to the second half for the Pride, and although the team has wrapped up a playoff berth, the team is looking for answers to its recent hitting woes. There is a silver lining however...first, it is beter to slump now than September, second the Pride's pitching staff has shown improvement. In 6 of the first 8 games, Pride starters have given up just 2.3 runs per outing. When the Pride's bats fully awaken, that combination will be tough on opposing sides.
After the Newark series, the Pennsylvania Road Warriors come in for a three-game set from Sunday thru Tuesday. The Pride have taken all nine meetings between the two teams thus far in 2003, but this is a different Road Warriors team. They are 3-5 in the second half, and should they win tonight in Somerset, they will be riding a four-game win streak.
But the Pride should be ready to go after facing a tough Newark team. Should Nashua emerge victorious tonigh (and they are undefeated so far this year on nights when the Pride host fireworks shows), they will have won their first series of the half, and tomorrow is also a very festive day at the ballpark, with much happening. It is Christmas in July Theme Night, and the Pride will wear special holiday jerseys that will be auctioned off. It is also a Margarita's Sunday, with fun and prizes from Margarita's Restaurant, and kids 12 & under get to run the bases after every Sunday Pride home game. It is also Hooksett, Candia, Suncook, Pembroke, Allenstown, and Deerfield Town Night...tickets just $4 for folks from those towns. And, the game will feature Democratic Presidential hopeful Dick Gephradt, US Representative from Missouri, throwing out the first pitch. Game time is 6:05 PM, and tickets are still available. Log on to www.NashuaPride.com, call 603-883-2255 or stop by the Holman Stadium box office for info on this and other events, like the upcoming Monday, 7/21 & Tuesday 7/22 Pride vs. Warriors games...all Monday & Tuesday Pride home games are Family Nights, with a 6:35 PM start time and four tickets for just $20!

AROUND THE LEAGUE
Earlier this week while the Pride was on the road, the Atlantic League welcomed its 8,000,000 fan through the doors. In just six short years the Atlantic League has proven what independent baseball can do, and the Pride are proud to be a part of it.
THANK YOU, RICKEY
Rickey Henderson got his wish, and the Atlantic League was happy to help. Rickey was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers this week, and in two games so far he is 3-for-8 with a .375 BA. Last night, Rickey hit his 296th career home run in the bigs, helping the Dodgers to an 8-5 win over St. Louis. Rickey is the fourth player to move from the Atlantic League into the majors this year, and the first ever to go directly from the Atlantic League back to the majors. The other players to make it back this season are Rickey's Newark teammate Jose Lima, who is 6-0 with a 2.42 ERA for Kansas City; Nashua OF Curtis Pride, who homered in his first game with the Yankees; and Bluefish pitcher Brady Raggio, who has given up no runs in seven of his ten outings as a reliever with Arizona.
GILLY GETS 100
Bridgeport Bluefish closer Mike Guilfoyle recorded his Atlantic League leading eighteenth save in a July 17th win over Atlantic City, marking his 100th career save in the Atlantic League.
