Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(STOCKTON, CA) - The two hottest teams in the California League met Tuesday night in Stockton as the JetHawks opened up their 14-game road trip against the Ports. The pitching dominated for both teams, but the Ports scored three late runs to beat Lancaster 4-0. Stockton has now won ten straight games. Meanwhile, Lake Elsinore led late against Inland Empire. A Storm win would push the JetHawks back to two games out in the second half race.
Both pitchers dominated early. Shawn Haviland struck out the side in the first inning for the Ports and ended with 11 strikeouts. Patrick Urckfitz took a perfect game into the fourth inning for Lancaster and set a career-high with eight strikeouts of his own. The Ports got just two hits against Urckfitz, but converted a triple in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly to give Stockton the only run they'd need.
The JetHawks were held to only two hits, matching a franchise-low for the tenth time in team history and the second time this season. They did not have a hit after the fourth inning.
The JetHawks continue their road trip in Stockton Wednesday night. Leandro Cespedes (2-4) will pitch for Lancaster against the Ports' Ben Hornbeck (5-3). The game begins at 7:05 and will be broadcast live online at JetHawks.com/CSN and on radio at NewsTalk 1380. The Pre-Game Show begins at 7:00.
The JetHawks Clubhouse Show will broadcast live at 5 PM on CSN. Special guests include JetHawks Chairman Peter Carfagna.
