Portland Adds Former UNC DE Paige-Moss

PORTLAND, OR - Portland's Arena Football League franchise announced today it has agreed to terms with former North Carolina defensive end Donte Paige-Moss.

Paige-Moss (6-4, 280, North Carolina) arrived at UNC as a heralded high school prospect, earning five-star ratings from all major recruiting services. He played defensive end, tailback and wide receiver while also handling punting and kicking duties for Northside High School (Jacksonville, NC). After racking up 28 sacks as a senior, Paige-Moss garnered All-American accolades from countless publications, including SuperPrep and Parade magazine.

Paige-Moss enrolled at the University of North Carolina in 2009 and gained valuable experience as a true freshman, collecting five tackles with two sacks in eight games. He entered the starting lineup the following season and demonstrated the ability that made him one of the most sought-after recruits in the country. Paige-Moss burst onto the scene as a sophomore, turning in a stellar performance that included 13.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.

Entering his junior season, Paige-Moss was regarded by many as a surefire first round NFL draft pick. However, his career was derailed when he suffered a significant knee injury against Missouri in the 2012 Independence Bowl.

"Donte is a gifted player that had success in a big college program, but his best football is still ahead of him," said Head Coach Matthew Sauk. "At only 22 years of age, he's back to full health and is loaded with potential. I'm excited to see what Donte brings to our pass rush as he continues to develop his game."
