Port Huron signs enforcer
June 28, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Port Huron Flags News Release
Port Huron, MI-Flags Head Coach Paul Willett announces the signing of Jordan Roach, a forward expected to make a 'big impact' on the ice and the United Hockey League's newest member club. "I expect him to go on the ice and be an intimidating force," Willett told Times Herald reporter Rick Jakacki. "He's one of those guys, if it gets a little rough, we'll get him on the ice."
Roach, 6-foot-2 and 224 pounds, played with Willett in Bakersfield for the ECHL's Condors in 2002-03. He spent last season with the Quebec RadioX (Ligue Nord-Americain de Hockey); registering 83 penalty minutes in 12 games.
Willett intends to bring in at least two more hard-hitters and hints that he is looking at another forward and a big defenseman. "Hopefully," Willett told Jackaki, "we have at least two more coming in who can definitely protect some of our little guys and stand up for the team."
Roach joins Ryan Gillis, J.R. Holmes, Brett Lutes and C.J. McConnell as the first five additions to the Flags' roster.
