Port Huron Flags News Release

PORT HURON, MI-At the close of the Port Huron Flags' Rookie Try-Out Camp, two players signed on for the team's inaugural season and two others have received offers.

C.J. McConnell, a 5-foot-11, 180 pound forward and defenseman, J.R. Holmes are both from The American International College. The two signed contracts with the UHL's newest member club on Sunday following a Rookie Try-Out Camp held by Flags' General Manager Herb Hammond and Head Coach Paul Willett last weekend.

Willett identified McConnell as the best offensive player at the camp and commented to Times Herald reporter Rick Jakacki that a player like "[McConnell] won't hurt you defensively (either)."

Offers were also made to forward Logan Hunter and defenseman Sean Kotary, however no signings have been reported.

Hunter, 5-foot-11, 195, has spent the last five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. Kotary, 6-foot-1, 190, played last season for Oswego State University and was a ninth-round pick in the 2000 entry draft by the Avalanche.

Willett also told reporters that other camp attendees may be invited back for training camp in October.

The signings mark the third and fourth additions to the Flags' roster. Ryan Gillis and Brett Lutes, both from the ECHL, signed contracts with the Flags last week.
