GAME OF THE WEEK:

The Swing picked up a clutch win on Monday, scoring four runs in the first inning on their way to a 6-3 win over Cedar Rapids. Quad Cities had ended the red-hot Kernels' 10-game winning streak one day earlier, and Monday's win earned them a series split while sending a message to the fast-charging Kernels that the Swing were in first-place for a reason. Brandon Dickson earned his 11 th win with seven strong two-run innings, while Tony Cruz notched two more RBI to pace the offense.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

3B Tony Cruz was on fire when he first joined the Swing, batting .313 with four homers and 26 RBI in his first 25 games with the club from July 13-August 9. After a brief quiet stretch, it seems the 26th-round pick in the 2007 draft is back to his old tricks. Cruz hit .320 (8-25) last week with three multi-hit games, five runs batted in, and his first homer in nearly a month on Saturday.

POLL OF THE WEEK: Which of the following potential new team names do you like the most (to be posted Tuesday)? Visit www.swingbaseball.com to cast your vote!

Last week: Taking the entire season into consideration, which 2007 Swing player was the most valuable to the team? Answer: Record-breaking closer Kenny Maiques (45%).
