Player Movement Results in Fan Favorite's Return

October 2, 2008 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
North Iowa Outlaws News Release

Mason City (IA) North Iowa Outlaws' head coach Jeff Crouse was like a chef letting the sauce simmer during the initial weeks of the season as he was very limited on the roster moves he made. That said, this week the pot has been more than stirred in preparation for the team's series this weekend in Bismarck as the Outlaws will see a four-player swing on their roster at the VFW Sportscenter.

Among the new additions is a familiar face to Mason City as the Outlaws' have brought back forward Joe Harcharik (Des Moines, IA) who has been a part of every Outlaws' team dating back to the 2005-2006 season. Harcharik has played in 131 Outlaws' games with 51 career goals if playoff action is included. All this while endearing himself to the Mason City community and the team's fan base. Harcharik began this season with the United States Hockey League's Des Moines Buccaneers, playing one preseason game for his hometown team.

The Outlaws have also announced the signing of defensemen Ryan Peltoma (Brainerd, MN) who spent the last two seasons with the Tri-City Storm of the USHL playing in 97 games with 10 points (1g, 9a). Peltoma spent the preseason with the USHL's Omaha Lancers before joining the Outlaws' this week.

With the additions of Harcharik and Peltoma, the Outlaws traded the rights to defenseman Scott Barrera (Chicago, IL) to the Springfield Jr. Blues and defenseman T.J. Poganski (St. Cloud, MN) to the Kenai River Brown Bears for draft picks.

The Outlaws (2-3-0) play a two-game series in Bismarck on Friday and Saturday night with face-off set for 7:30pm and 7:00pm respectively. North Iowa returns home for the first of three-straight in Mason City on Friday October 10th at 7:30pm against the Owatonna Express.

The North Iowa Outlaws Hockey Club is in its fourth season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 33nd year of operation. For more information, visit northiowaoutlaws.com or call (641) 424-5468.
