(Denver, CO) - The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and its eight member clubs have seen a total of 18 players have their contracts purchased since the beginning of 2016 spring training. This total includes players who have been sold to either Major League Baseball organizations or international leagues.
"The large number of player contracts purchased thus far underscores the high level of talent in the Atlantic League," said League President Rick White. "We continue to work closely with Major League Baseball and other leagues internationally to help players take the next step in their careers."
The following is a list of Atlantic League players who have had their contracts purchased since the start of spring training and the team they reported to initially:

Although ALPB clubs are unaffiliated, the League and MLB work through a unique working agreement governing the transfer of players to Major League teams. In the spring, 2015, the Atlantic League became the first independent league to enter into a relationship with Major League Baseball, formalizing the process under which its players' contracts could be sold to MLB organizations.
