
Pittsburgh Power to Face San Jose SaberCats

The Pittsburgh Power host the San Jose SaberCats this Saturday, March 29. Kickoff at CONSOL Energy Center is scheduled for 5:00 pm ET. The game will be televised locally on thisTV Pitssburgh with Craig Wolfley and Ken Laird calling the action, as well as, nationally on ESPN3. The game will also be broadcast on TribLIVE Radio with Ike Taylor, John Harris, and Dan Dudley commentating.
LAST WEEK:
The Power come into Week 3 of AFL action after having their first of two bye weeks for the season.
The SaberCats enter the matchup after scorching the Philadelphia Soul last week on their home field, 70-33. In the game, San Jose scored on every offensive possession they had with rookie quarterback Nathan Stanley at the helm. Wide receiver Reggie Gray hauled in five catches for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Rod Harper also chipped in with six receptions for 77 yards and two scores.
POWER TO WATCH | OFFENSE:
At the helm of Pittsburgh's offense is veteran quarterback Tommy Grady. In Grady's Power debut during Week 1 of play, he connected 28-of-44 passes for 271 yards and five touchdowns. It was his first throw that got his name in Pittsburgh's franchise record book, tying the longest pass completion 47-yards.
Leading the Power's receiving corps is Prechae Rodriguez who caught nine of Grady's 28 completions in the team's season opener against the Cleveland Gladiators. He also recorded 105 yards with three touchdown grabs.
SABERCATS TO WATCH | OFFENSE:
After injury struck the SaberCats six-year veteran quarterback Russ Michna in Week 1 of play, rookie Nathan Stanley took over leading San Jose's offense. Stanley, recording his first career start last week, has completed 26-of-42 throws for 338 yards and nine touchdowns in two games this season. Stanley also has recorded one rushing touchdown.
Leading the team's receiving yards is Rod Harper. In two games, Harper has caught 16 passes for 182 yards and 4 touchdowns. Also contributing to the offense is Reggie Gray who has made 11 catches for 179 yards and a team high seven touchdowns.
POWER TO WATCH | DEFENSE:
Veteran defensive back Virgil Gray leads the Power's defensive efforts with 10.5 tackles, one interception, and three pass breakups. Defensive back Brandon Freeman has also contributed with 6.5 tackles and one pass breakup.
SABERCATS TO WATCH | DEFENSE:
Leading the SaberCat's defensive charge is DB Ken Fontenette with 12.5 tackles and three pass breakups. Following close behind Fontenette, Huey Whittaker who has accumulated 11 tackles and one pass breakup. The team's two interceptions on the season come from defensive backs Clevan Thomas and David Hyland.
