Pittsburgh Power Advances Players to NFL and CFL

December 1, 2010 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Pittsburgh Power News Release

The Pittsburgh Power is happy to announce the advancement of two of its players to the CFL and NFL. Nick Hennessey, a four-year starter from Colgate University and an Offensive Lineman with the Buffalo Bills was signed to a contract with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. Hennessey was an All-Patriot League First Team member and was named to the Walter Camp Team. On the other side of the ball, Defensive Lineman Curtis Young who played for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, where he was a part of the back- to-back Big East Conference Championship teams in 2008 and 2009 and later the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL, has recently been signed to the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League. The Power is continuing to recruit to expand on its high caliber roster as well as replace the void that Hennessey and Young leave in their departure.

Coach Siegfried stated that while missing these talented players, "we not only want to field the best possible team but at the same time, do not want to stand in the way of our players making what they feel is their best career move". GM and Owner Matt Shaner also remarked, "this is part and parcel of fielding the most competitive team we can build. We certainly hope that our team becomes a fertile recourse for the NFL and CFL, and as we continue to acquire the best available talent, we expect more and more of our players to be getting their shots in the NFL."
