Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training Gets Underway

Jamestown, NY- Today the Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers and catchers will hold their first formal workout at Pirate City to launch the club's 45th Spring Training in Bradenton, FL. The full squad will report on February 17th. The team hopes to build on a 94 win season from a year ago. Key pieces from the Jamestown team last summer will continue to progress through the organization. Many of these former Jammers have already received positive evaluations from industry experts this off-season.

Baseball America recently ranked the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system No. 1 in all of Major League Baseball. Six Pirates prospects found their way onto Baseball America's top 100 prospect list, and three members of the 2013 Jamestown Jammers are considered among the top 10 prospects in the Pirates organization. They are Austin Meadows (No. 45 on the top 100 prospect list), Reese McGuire, and Harold Ramirez.

The Pirates Opening Day is at Home versus the Cubs on March 31st. While the Jammers open their season on June 13th at home against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, a Cleveland Indians affiliate. 2014 Jamestown Jammers season tickets are now on sale.
