Pirates Home Opener Saturday

The Pirates open their 18th season of competition, the 34th season of AHL action at the Cumberland County Civic Center, on Saturday, October 9th when the Manchester Monarchs visit the Cumberland County Civic Center for a 7 p.m. contest.

Join the Pirates for the first Bud Light Hockey Night in Portland game of the season. The first 2,500 fans into the game receive a free Pirates magnetic schedule courtesy of JobsInME.com, the "Official Job Board" of the Pirates and the first 5,000 fans receive a Pirates Preview Section from the Portland Press Herald.

Advance ticket prices are $13 for Quarter Deck, $16 for Main Deck and $17 for Premium Main Deck. Student/Senior pricing is $11 for Quarter or Main Deck tickets and $12 for Premium Main Deck seating. Purchase your tickets in advance and save on the $2 increase on all ticket prices for day of game purchases.

Pirates Announce 2010-11 Roster

The Pirates announced their 2010-11 roster Friday as they prepare for the season opener Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Cumberland County Civic Center against the Manchester Monarchs.

The Pirates opening day roster features 12 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

Forwards: Luke Adam, Paul Byron, Matt Ellis, Jacob Lagace, Mark Mancari, Dennis McCauley, Mark Parrish, Felix Schutz, Colin Stuart, Corey Tropp, Travis Turnbull and Derek Whitmore.

Defense: Alex Biega, T.J. Brennan, Tim Conboy, Nick Crawford, Marc-Andre Gragnani, Dennis Persson and Drew Schiestel.

Goaltenders: Jhonas Enroth and David Leggio.

Sabres Sign Parrish, Loan Veteran to Portland

BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced Wednesday the signing of Mark Parrish. The veteran forward was then loaned to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

The 33-year-old has recorded 387 points (216 goals and 171 assists) in 720 career NHL games with Florida, NY Islanders, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Dallas and Tampa Bay. The Bloomington, Minnesota native split last season between the Lightning and the AHL's Norfolk Admirals. He collected two assists in 16 games with Tampa and registered 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points in 56 games with the Admirals.

Parrish, who was selected 79th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, enjoyed his most successful pro season in 2001-02 when he scored 30 goals and 30 assists for 60 points in 78 games with the New York Islanders.
