Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release
Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce that defensive specialist Kyle Grove has been offered a contract by the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe.
"This is what I've been working for," said Grove. "I had a good camp with the (Barcelona) Dragons, and I knew I'd get another shot down the road. I just didn't think it would be so soon."
"This is a great opportunity for Kyle," said Pioneers Head Coach Dean Cokinos. "It's the goal of every player in the af2 to reach the next level. We wish him nothing but the best."
Grove is the Pioneers leading defensive player thus far in 2003, recording 20.5 tackles, seven pass break-ups, and an interception in four games.
"I'm sorry I won't be here for this weekend's game (against Albany)," added Grove. "This is a great bunch of guys, and a great area. I'll miss it a lot."
Tickets are still available for Saturday night's game between the Pioneers and the Albany Conquest. Fans may purchase individual game tickets at the First Union Arena box office or through Ticketmaster (570-693-4100).
And don't forget to tune in for NBC's continuing coverage of the Arena Football League every Sunday.
