Pinawa Minor Hockey Wins $50,000 Delissio WHL Hockey Challenge

March 22, 2011 - Western Hockey League (WHL) News Release

Calgary, AB - Nestlé Canada, in partnership with the Western Hockey League, is proud to congratulate the Pinawa Minor Hockey Association as winners of the $50,000 Delissio WHL Hockey Challenge.

The town of Pinawa, Manitoba, rallied behind their 47-member hockey association, submitting a total of 1,308 UPC cut-outs from Delissio pizza boxes. The $50,000 will be used to benefit the association from a hockey betterment standpoint, including upgrades to rebuild their outdoor rink. Ron Drabyk, President of the Pinawa Minor Hockey Association, was speechless when he heard of the news.

"I'm sure that I'll find the words soon to express our gratitude to the WHL and Delissio for sponsoring this contest," commented Drabyk, who admits the association could not have done it without the support of the community. "Excitement is building as the news spread around town."

A cheque presentation, among other festivities, is slated for late spring in Pinawa.

The Delissio WHL Hockey Challenge invited Western Canadian fans to submit UPC cut-outs from Delissio pizza boxes from November 1 to February 28, 2011.

Delissio and the Western Hockey League would also like to congratulate Sherry Kineshanko of Lumby Minor Hockey, whose association won the second grand prize consisting of a Delissio Hockey Day and pizza party with the Kelowna Rockets early in the 2011-12 season.
