Pulaski Mariners News Release
Pulaski, VA (July 5, 2011) - The long ball was in full effect Tuesday night in Pulaski with four balls leaving the yard. It was a great night offensively for the Mariners, scoring 11 runs off 14 hits along the way as they won the game 11-3.
Guillermo Pimentel was scorching at the plate tonight going 3-for-4 with a walk, double, two homeruns, and 7 RBI. He scored the first run of the game in the second inning with a lead-off homerun. The Mariners would score two more runs in the inning thanks to a two RBI double by Bryan Brito. Pimentel's second homer of the night came in the third inning when he blasted a two run shot deep over the right field fence that scored Daniel Paolini. He wasn't done there, adding onto his already impressive night in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded and two out, he stepped to the plate and delivered a bases clearing double off the wall in right center that may have been the nail in the coffin for Bristol.
Great pitching by the Mariners Jose Valdivia kept the White Sox off the board until the fifth inning, and Daniel Paolini added an insurance run in the seventh inning with his second homerun of the year.
Valdivia earned the win going six strong innings, allowing only one run, and striking out seven. Ethan Icard was tagged with the loss for the White Sox throwing four innings, allowing nine earned runs, and walking four.
The Pulaski Mariners will take the field again tomorrow night against the Bristol White Sox as the look to win the series and boost their winning streak to three games in a row. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
