Piasa Drop Home Opener

November 7, 2011 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Illinois Piasa News Release

The Illinois Piasa played their first game of the season Saturday night against the Kansas Magic in front of 658 in attendance at the Sports Academy in Glen Carbon, Il. There was plenty of excitement for the fans but in the end the Magic came out on top, 11-9.

Greg Crook was solid in goal, but his defense just couldn't provide the support needed. Without Crook in goal, the Magic without a doubt would have won by a wider margin.

Despite the loss, the Piasa had plenty of positives to take away from the game, including a 6 goal performance by Elvir Kafedzic. The other Piasa goals came from Newsom, Gemoules and Judiscak.

On the other side, the Kansas Magic had 7 different players tally up their 11 goals, led by Bryan Williams with 3 goals scored.

Nick Garcia made his PASL debut, made his presence felt on defense and also had an assist on one of the Magic's goals. Nick Garcia played 11 seasons in the MLS, 8 of those seasons with the Kansas City Wizards. Nick is listed 6th all time in the MLS for minutes played and in the top 20 for games played. Nick Garcia also has 6 caps for the USMNT.

The Illinois Piasa will play the Kansas Magic again this Saturday at the Magic for their home opener. The Piasa will then return home on November 19 to host Detroit.

Illinois Piasa is a professional indoor soccer team entering their second season as a PASL-Pro franchise and will play their home games at The Sports Academy, located at 101 The Game Drive, Glen Carbon, IL 62034.
