Phoenix Rising FC News Release
PHOENIX, Arizona - Phoenix Rising FC will kick off the Fourth of July weekend with its Military Appreciation Night match against Memphis 901 FC at 38th St/Washington, next Saturday, July 1 at 8 p.m.
Retired or active-duty members of the military can secure a FREE ticket to that match through VET TIX. Rising has donated more than 5,000 tickets to veterans and first responders since 2017. Military members can call 623-594-9606 to claim a ticket for July 1.
Luke Air Force Base's Custom Rising Jersey & Flag
Phoenix Rising created a custom jersey for Military Appreciation Night in collaboration with Luke Air Force Base. Moving away from the club's traditional red, white, and blue Military Appreciation top, Rising aimed to create a branch-specific and local military history design.
During WWII, Luke AFB was the largest training base with more than 12,000 pilots graduating per year. As a result, Luke earned the nickname "Home of the Fighter Pilot." This training top is a nod to that history. The design is based off a P-51 Mustang, one of the planes pilots trained on at Luke AFB. The number 51 is a reference to the P-51. Along the top of the neck on the back are the coordinates for Luke AFB. The logo on the sleeve is a reference to the logo on the wings of those planes.
The first 1,000 fans through the gates next Saturday, July 1 will receive a free Luke AFB Rising Flag courtesy of Northern Arizona University. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.
Ticket Offer
Also honoring Luke AFB, Rising is offering a discounted $19.41 ticket to next Saturday's match. Luke AFB was built in 1941.
As part of the festivities, Northern Arizona University will recognize Purple Heart recipients at halftime.
Rising on the Road in Oakland this Weekend
Phoenix (5-4-6) won, 3-1, on the road in Albuquerque on Wednesday. That win was the team's third away win this season, equaling last year's total in just eight road matches this season. The team flew from New Mexico to California yesterday. Rising will face Oakland Roots tomorrow, live on Arizona's Family Sports & Entertainment Network (OTA 44, COX 13) and ESPN+ at 7 p.m.
