Philadelphia KiXX News Release

Philadelphia, PA, February 27, 2006 - The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that Philadelphia KiXX defender Pat Morris has been named the League's Defensive Player-of-the-Week (POW) for the seven-day period ending February 26. The distinction is the first such honor for the Philadelphia native this season and fourth overall for the club; teammates Ptah Myers earned the Defensive POW honors for the period ending November 13, Peter Pappas was named the MISL Goalkeeper-of-the-Week for the period ending December 4 and more recently Drew Kopp received the Defensive POW distinction for the period ending January 22.

The Northeast Catholic product almost single-handedly snapped the team's franchise worst nine-game losing streak with a career-best four-goal performance, including the game winner at 2:39 of overtime, versus the defending League Champion Milwaukee Wave on February 25. With the KiXX trailing 6-2 at the half, Morris and the rest of the club stepped up their defense and held the second-place Wave scoreless for the game's final two quarters en route to earning a 7-6 victory.

After a score from Philadelphia newcomer Dino Delevski at 2:43 of the third frame, Morris recorded three consecutive goals to knot the score at 6-6 and force the extra stanza. The Philadelphia University graduate then sealed the team's comeback connecting on a pass from teammate Gary DePalma for the game-winning power-play score. Morris also posted a two-point outing versus the expansion Cougars in California to kick-off the week's action on February 20.

Selected to his fourth consecutive All-Star game, Morris continues to establish himself as one of the League's premier defenders both on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. The seven-year veteran, who has recorded more than 250 goals and nearly 400 blocks, currently leads the KiXX with 16 blocks and ranks tied for second with 17 points (11 goals and six assists) in 15 appearances this season. Morris was named the 2004-05 MISL Defender of the Year after posting a League-high 93 blocks and 43 points (22 goals, 21 assists) in 36 games last season. With this week's distinction, he has now received POW honors nine times as well as a pair of Player-of-the-Month accolades in his career.

Morris and the rest of KiXX battle their Interstate 95 rival, the Baltimore Blast, in a home-and-home series that commences on Friday, March 3. Game-time at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD is scheduled for 7:35 pm ET. The teams then return to the City of Brotherly Love to conclude the series at the Wachovia Spectrum on Saturday, March 4. The night, dubbed "Christian Night," includes post-game testimonials from various KiXX players and a free concert featuring national recording artist, The Afters. Kick-off is slated for 7:05 pm ET with the doors opening at 6:00 pm ET.
