Philly learns opponent after Friday night's upset

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul will face the New York Dragons on Saturday, July 5 at 7 p.m. at the Wachovia Center after the sixth-seeded Dragons stunned third-seeded Desperados in Dallas on Friday night, 77-63.

New York QB Aaron Garcia was 28 of 39 for 330 yards and nine touchdowns and WR Kevin Swayne had eight catches for 77 yards and four touchdowns in the win.

Philadelphia swept the two-game season series from New York, most recently handing the Dragons a 59-30 defeat in the regular-season finale for both teams last Sunday in New York. Earlier this season, the Soul downed New York, 63-42, at the Wachovia Center.

The Soul ended the regular season 13-3 and earned the top seed in the National Conference after posting the best record in the Arena Football League.

The Soul are celebrating their fifth anniversary this season. Following last season, the Soul were recognized with the Commissioner's Award as the Organization of the Year and were an honorable mention for the PRISM Award in the category of fan appreciation. The Soul have drawn a total of 131,817 fans this season, their largest number since their inaugural season of 2004. The Soul sold out four games in the 2008 season and averaged a crowd of 16,477 fans per game.
