Philadelphia Barrage News Release

Barrage Acquire Goalie Brian Dougherty

The Barrage has acquired Philadelphia native Brian Dougherty from the Long Island Lizards. Philadelphia will receive Dougherty and Long Island's 2006 second-round Collegiate Draft choice in exchange for Goalie Greg Cattrano. The trade features a pair of champion goaltenders as Dougherty and Cattrano led their clubs to the 2003 and 2004 MLL titles respectively. Dougherty helped the Lizards capture the 2003 MLL Championship after being acquired from Rochester before the 2003 season.

The trade is the second between Philadelphia and Long Island during this offseason. In January, Philadelphia sent Nick Polanco, Blake Miller and Ryan Moran to Long Island in exchange for Kevin Finneran, Damien Davis, Andrew Wasik and the second pick in the 2005 Collegiate Draft.

Boyle, originally drafted by Rochester in June of 2004, came to Philadelphia for the final eight games of the 2004 regular season. Boyle wasted no time getting acclimated to the fast-paced MLL, and added 45 points (17 goals, 28 assists) for the Barrage in the regular season. Boyle's contributions earned him the distinction of 2004 Cascade Rookie of the Year. Boyle is joined by veterans Keith Cromwell, B.J. Prager, and Michael Springer. Youngsters Conor Ford, Josh Bergey and Will Phillips will also look to make significant contributions.

Matt Striebel's high power offensive game will pace the Barrage in 2005.

Veteran Midfielder Roy Colsey also returns to the Barrage after a stellar postseason performance. Colsey led the way in the Championship game, scoring four goals to help defeat Boston. Along with Colsey, several midfielders will play key roles for the Barrage. Damien Davis, Bobby Horsey, Chris Rogler, Chris Malone, Nick Russo, Doug Shanahan, Michael Mollot, and Andrew Wasik, along with veterans Matt Striebel and Kevin Finneran will all factor into the equation for the 2005 Barrage. Rookies Michael Young, Billy Glading, Brett Walther, Matt Lucas and Trevor Walker will look to step into key roles.
