Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings put their three - game winning streak on the line when they host the Washington Stealth at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, March 9 at 8 p.m.
At 5-3, Philadelphia currently sits in second place in the East division, a half-game behind the division-leading Toronto Rock. The Wings meet up with West division leader Washington (5-4). The two teams will meet for the first time since the Wings won 10-9 at home in January 2012.
Timely goals and a balanced offense have been the story for the Wings in the first half of the season. In each game but one, the Wings have had at least six different runners score goals. Paul Rabil has joined the mix with an offensive spike, scoring hat tricks in each of the last two wins, while veteran forwards Drew Westervelt and Kevin Ross have remained consistent contributors coming up with big goals at key moments.
In the Wings current three-game win streak, the team has only given up 30 goals. In the team's previous three losses they gave up more than 50 goals combined. Goalie Brandon Miller's defense has been the solid for the Wings, accumulating 124 saves and steadying the team when they have fallen behind early in games.
Slow starts continue to be an issue for the Wings, and although they have managed to come from behind in each of the last three wins after falling into a hole early, the team is aware this isn't a trend they want to continue.
"We know we can't afford to get down in the first quarter against Washington," said Wings forward Kevin Crowley who has scored five goals in the past three games. "They're an explosive team but we hope to get a jump early and build on that, so we aren't constantly playing from behind."
The Wings game on Saturday will be "College Night" featuring $1 Dietz and Watson hot dogs and a special ticket discount for college students who show a valid college ID at Wells Fargo Center box office.
Tickets for the Wings March 9 game at Wells Fargo Center and all Wings 2013 home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at www. WingsLAX.com.
