Philadelphia Wings News Release

Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Wings bring professional lacrosse back to the City of Brotherly Love when they face off against the Buffalo Bandits during the welcome home opener this Saturday, December 15 at 1 p.m. The Wings return to their official home at the Wells Fargo Center for the first time since the 2014 NLL season, after Comcast Spectacor acquired the NLL expansion franchise in 2017.

To celebrate the Wings' return to Philadelphia for the 2018-19 season, a limited number of $18 welcome home opener tickets are available. Single game tickets are on sale now through WingsLAX.com or by phone at 215-952-LAX1.

Prior to faceoff, the Wings will honor past franchise banner moments by raising a championship banner paying homage to the six Wings Championships (1989, 1990, 1994, 1995, 1998, 2001), along with three individual arena banners commemorating Tom "Hollywood" Marechek (retired no. 42), Dallas Eliuk (retired no. 35), and Jake Bergey (retired no. 66).

Marechek played 12 seasons with the Philadelphia Wings. He was inducted into the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2012. Eliuk played 15 seasons for the Philadelphia Wings. Eliuk won four championships with the Wings, two championship MVP awards, was named to the All-Pro team nine times, and retired as the league's all-time leader in saves. Bergey played ten seasons for the Philadelphia Wings. Bergey is the son of former NFL star Bill Bergey, and brother of fellow lacrosse player Josh Bergey.

The Wings will honor their new beginning in Philadelphia by raising a welcome home banner solidifying Wells Fargo Center as the official home of the Wings.

In advance of the evening's game, the Wings will host an official pre-game welcome back party in the Cure Insurance Club at Wells Fargo Center including $5 beer specials, half priced appetizers at Campos and 50% off hot dogs, popcorn and sodas. The 50% off hot dogs, popcorn and sodas special will be available for fans through the end of the first quarter.

The Wings will sport their new black home jersey with the logo crest on the front and charcoal wings on the front and back of the shoulders. Numbers on the back of the jersey are outlined in gold. Red can be found on the inseams of the jersey and will look the same way on the player's shorts. The uniform has a touch of history in it with the red color and the W in the logo, but uses the new gold and charcoal colors to represent the updated look. The Wings jersey and new team merchandise are on sale now at www.shopwingslax.com.

Following the match-up, fans are invited to the official Wings Post Game Party presented by Yuengling in PJ Whelihan's behind section 106. Fans can enjoy $5 Yuenglings and special appearances by players and Wings dancers.

Season ticket memberships are on sale now at WingsLAX.com or by calling 215-952-LAX1 and include exclusive benefits such as team access and events. Fans can also follow the team @NLLWings to receive behind the scenes information as the team prepares to start its nine-game home season at the Wells Fargo Center.

As a founding partner, PHL17 will serve as the exclusive television home for Philadelphia Wings Lacrosse, broadcasting all home games and a select number of away games. Booker Corrigan and Scott Gabrielsen will call the action, with Erin Dolan reporting on the sidelines. The first telecast will be the Wings Home Opener on Saturday December 15 at 1 p.m. on PHL17.
