Philadelphia Wings Host Cancer Awareness Night April 7

April 1, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) will take the field in special grey jerseys for the Think Grey! movement to raise awareness for brain cancer against the Minnesota Swarm at the Wells Fargo Center on April 7 at 4 p.m. The jerseys will be auctioned off following the game to benefit the RENK Foundation and the Chris Sanderson Memorial Trust.

The RENK Foundation was formed by Dave and Jackie Renk, of Bucks County, who lost their son Matthew to brain cancer. The foundation's mission is to generate awareness of childhood brain cancer and to provide support for families facing this challenge. The foundation seeks to help educate and raise awareness about childhood cancers, fund research and provide direct support to families.

Chris Sanderson was a former assistant coach and goalie for the Wings, who succumbed to cancer this past summer. In his memory, the family has created a memorial trust. The RENK Foundation will donate a portion of the proceeds from the jersey auction to the trust.

In addition to the jersey auction, there will also be a pre-game auction of specially made lifestyle shorts and other Philadelphia sports-related items that will benefit the Chris Sanderson Memorial fund as well as Kyle Miller's "Beat It" campaign.

Miller is the brother of Wings goaltender, Brandon Miller and lifelong friend of Captain Brodie Merrill. Kyle is a former elite college lacrosse player who is battling cancer for the second time. The team has rallied around Kyle's "Beat It" motto in support of his fight.

Tickets for Wings Cancer Awareness night on April 7 and all home games at Wells Fargo Center are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at www. WingsLAX.com.
