Philadelphia Wings Herd the Masses for Road Battle

March 5, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

With the support of 275 loyal fans making the road trip, the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) will look to snap their current four-game losing skid entering a hostile environment when they visit the defending NLL Champion Rochester Knighthawks at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY on Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Making the trip to Rochester to support the Wings is a corral of five tour buses bringing 250 devoted fans and 25 others braving the drive on their own. The trip is a benefit for individuals that renewed their season tickets during the early-bird renewal process.

Philadelphia challenges Rochester for the second time this season. Forward Jordan Hall and Transition Player Joel White will once again square-off against their former squad. In their previous meeting against the Knighthawks, Hall recorded three points (two goals, one assist) and White tallied nine loose balls and forced one turnover.

"Rochester presents a big test for us on the road," said Head Coach Blane Harrison. "They are one of the best and tough to play at their building. We need to go in ready to play and compete in all phases of the game. Our inexperience has showed during this [losing] skid, but we are looking to rebound this weekend."

The Wings will rely on a trio of Forwards with hot hands to pace them. Jordan Hall, Kevin Crowley and Pat Saunders all recorded multi-goal games in their last game during week nine against Minnesota. Saunders and Hall each had hat tricks and Crowley led the team in overall points with 10.

The Rochester Knighthawks (6-3) are tied for third in the NLL in win percentage and rank second in the NLL East Division. The Knighthawks are undefeated at home, boasting a perfect 4-0 record. Rochester has had the better of Philadelphia in head-to-head matchups, leading the all-time series 32-18 including a victory in their initial meeting of 2014 on Saturday, January 11 in Rochester.

"I have plenty of confidence in myself and this team going forward," said Wings Forward Kyle Buchanan. "Our main goal is to improve each game and learn from our mistakes. Rochester is a tough defensive team. We need to get inside on them and capitalize on the opportunities presented to us."

The Wings make their way back to Philadelphia to take on the Rochester Knighthawks for their final matchup of the 2014 regular season at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, March 16 at 4 p.m.

Tickets for all Wings 2014 home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at WingsLAX.com.
