PHILADELPHIA (December 9, 2010) - The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League announce the signing of wide receiver, Randy Hymes (6' 3", 220, Grambling State) for the 2011 season. Hymes, who will be entering his third AFL season, also spent five seasons in the NFL.

"Randy is a receiver who has shown flashes of greatness," said Soul head coach Mike Hohensee. "He put up five touchdowns against last year's champion, Spokane, while playing for a 3-13 team. If Randy works at it, he will be a beast for the Soul."

Hymes, who played for AFL's Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings in 2010, finished with 51 receptions for 811 yards and 18 touchdowns. The versatile, former collegiate quarterback also completed 20-of-39 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns in spot-quarterback duty. In 2008, he recorded four receptions for 78 yards and three touchdowns with the Cleveland Gladiators.

Hymes was signed as a rookie free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2002 where he played in seven games and recorded six receptions for 123 yards. In 2004, Hymes had 26 receptions for 324 yards and two touchdowns. In 2005, he was active for all 16 games and tallied 11 receptions for 132 receiving yards and two touchdowns. During his time in the NFL, Hymes also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars.

During his collegiate career, the former Grambling Tiger earned many awards including: MVP of the Bayou Classic, Eddie Robinson Player of The Year, Offensive Player of The Year and SWAC Player of the Year in 2001. While at the school, he helped the team become back-to-back SWAC Champions and Black College National Champions in 2000-01. During that span, Hymes passed for 4,413 yards for 33 touchdowns.
