PHILADELPHIA â The Philadelphia Soul have announced they have released veterans, offensive/defensive lineman Corey Mayfield and wide receiver/linebacker Gary Compton.
Mayfield played in five games with the Soul this season and recorded 3.5 tackles and one sack. He missed the first seven games of the season due to knee injury which he suffered during the preseason.
Compton missed six games this season due to a knee injury and recorded 13 receptions for 139 yards and one touchdown when activated. Compton recorded 4.5 tackles this season and one interception (Returned for a touchdown). Compton was deactivated for three games this season as well.
The Soul also announced they have activated wide receiver/defensive back Terrell Adams from the injured reserve. Adams was placed on IR after suffering a sprained left ankle on March 27th.
The Soul (5-8) play their final regular season home game this Saturday, May 15th when they host the Carolina Cobras (4-9) at the Wachovia Spectrum. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The final home game will be fan appreciation day. 15,000 fans will receive a Philadelphia Soul license plate holder courtesy of Campbell Soup invigor8 and Soup at Hand. The first 7,000 fans will receive a Philadelphia Soul inaugural team poster. Great tickets for the game are still available.
