Philadelphia Freedoms Announce Seven Nights of Special Events

Philadelphia, PA (June 19, 2011) - The Philadelphia Freedoms have released the full schedule of special events and unique promotions taking place throughout the 2011 season home matches. This season features fun for the whole family and not to be missed celebrity appearances including tennis legend Chris Evert, Philadelphia Flyer James Van Riemsdyk, Eagles great and ESPN broadcaster Ron Jaworksi and WTT founder and Freedoms owner Billie Jean King. These nightly events provide the opportunity for fans to get up close and personal with their favorite local and sports celebrities.

On July 6th the Freedoms will host Opening Night with Venus Williams at the Meet the Stars reception to benefit Abington Health featuring appearances by Venus Williams (Washington Kastles) and the 2011 Freedoms players. The reception includes a wine tasting, catering by Stephen STARR Events and a live auction to benefit Abington Health. CBS 3 personality Lesley Van Arsdall will be hosting the reception and broadcasting live.

A salute to Main Line Tennis Night will honor local Freedoms players Lisa Raymond and Nathan Healey, Freedoms Head Coach and Head Pro at the Merion Cricket Club Pascal Collard and Assistant Coach Josh Cohen on July 7th. In honor of Radnor Township Night, the first 100 kids (up to age 16) are invited to participate in a FREE pre-match clinic hosted by the star players of the Main Line.

A special appearance by WTT legend Chris Evert on Macy's Ladies Night is scheduled for July 12th. Highlights of this evening include the Chris Evert Pro-Celebrity Set presented by Macy's and a special Macy's Fashion Show on center court.

McEnroe vs. Oudin & Jaworski Celebrity Invitational will be held on July 13th. Legendary hall-of-famer John McEnroe will take on the Freedoms and up-and-coming superstar Melanie Oudin. Two great legends will take the court at once as Eagles great and ESPN broadcaster Ron Jaworksi hosts a special Celebrity Invitational match at half-time featuring local personalities such as Comcast SportsNet's Michael Barkann and CBS 3's Lesley Van Arsdall.

On July 15th the Freedoms are hosting Flyers Night at the Freedoms. The Freedoms will take on the Boston Lobsters and Jan-Michael Gambill with special guest Flyers star James "JVR" Van Riemsdyk. "JVR" will join Flyers alumni and special guests in a special halftime Flyers Pro Set. Also featured this evening will be an on-court auction hosted by JVR and an autograph session for fans.

July 15th also boasts both Girls Night Out and Kids Night. The Girls Night Out package will include exclusive access to the VIP Courtside Club overlooking all the action and a fabulous food selection from Stephen STARR Events including a French cheese selection, gourmet cupcake station and wine tasting plus makeovers provided by Clinique and Macy's. Tickets for this package are $40 and include lower level match ticket and food/beverage. Kids can participate in a free pre-match tennis clinic, enjoy crafts and games, and receive a free burrito courtesy of Chipotle. Kids' general admission tickets are only $8.

Guys Night Out and Billie Jean King League Appreciation Night are July 18 th. Guys will enjoy delicious sliders, a pig-in-a-blanket station from Stephen STARR Events and a Table Leaf Wine tasting - all while overlooking Center Court in the beautiful, redesigned our new Courtside Club for only $40 and includes lower level ticket & food/beverage. This is also a very special evening as Billie Jean King returns for another great night of Freedoms action as we honor local league tennis champions.

Bryan Brothers Doubles Night will take place the night of the Freedoms' final home match on July 19th and will feature the world's number one doubles team, twin brothers Bob and Mike Bryan. In honor of the Bryans, all twins arriving at the box office on match night will get tickets for buy one, get one free. Twins in attendance will also be recognized on-court during the match.

The Freedoms will play 14 matches during their 2011 regular season schedule in the WTT Pro League presented by GEICO, including seven home matches this July at The Pavilion at Villanova University. The Freedoms are led by head coach Pascal Collard and assistant coach Josh Cohen. 2011 team members include former world no. 1 doubles player Lisa Raymond, rising American Beatrice Capra, Brendan Evans and local resident Nathan Healey. Raymond, Capra, Evans and Healey join American teen phenom Melanie Oudin on the 2011 roster.

The Freedoms open their home season on Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m., against Venus Williams and the Washington Kastles. Tennis great Chris Evert will make a special guest appearance on July 12. Legendary Hall of Famer John McEnroe, playing for the New York Sportimes, returns to Philly on July 13 in a blockbuster evening which will also include the Freedoms' top marquee draft pick and rising teenage star Melanie Oudin. The Freedoms' home match schedule will continue through July 19 with the final match-up featuring the world's top-ranked doubles team, brothers Bob and Mike Bryan, playing for the defending WTT Champion Kansas City Explorers.
