Florence Phantoms News Release
The Florence Phantoms have completed the three game home-stand improving their record to 7-4, this stretch at home has been quite historic for the team and the city of Florence, its the 1st time the Phantoms have had a winning record, as well them as being the division leader, and the 1st any Florence, SC team has swept a Fayetteville team in the ongoing battle of I-95. The defense almost added their own page to the history books last Friday, as they were one touchdown away from the first ever AIFA shut out. The Phantoms held the Fayetteville Guard scoreless for three quarters and the majority of the fourth, before giving up a 5 yard pass for a touchdown but no extra point in a 50-6 rout. Bennie King, Coach Taveres Bowens and his coaching staff have turned this team around by providing a quality product and a winning culture that the entire Pee Dee Area should be proud to support.
As the regular season draws to a close there are only three more games left for your Florence Phantoms. A final game in Concord, NC against divisional opponent the Carolina Speed, the last regular season home game against the Augusta Colts, or the as its better known as the Battle of I-20. And this week's marquee match-up with the Columbus Lions. The Lions are 8-3 holding second place in the South Division and also preparing themselves for a playoff run. "The Lions will be a good test of our teams fortitude, as we travel into their place and try to notch a victory there", says Coach T. These Last few games will well prepare us for what we will face in the post season!"
Phantoms Fans join us on June 14 as we return home to take on the Augusta Colts on Fan appreciation Night here at the Florence Civic Center 7:30pm. Tickets are as low as $7 and on sale now
