SAN ANTONIO CHANGES NICKNAME; BINGHAMTON CHOOSES SENATORS
The American Hockey League expansion team in San Antonio has changed its nickname from the Stampede to the Rampage. The Rampage will begin play this October as the top developmental team of the NHL's Florida Panthers, making their home at the brand new SBC Center in San Antonio.
Binghamton, the AHL's other new entrant for the 2002-03 season, has chosen the same nickname as its NHL affiliate - the Ottawa Senators. This is the AHL's second venture into Binghamton, as the Dusters, Whalers and Rangers played there from 1977-97.
