The Vancouver Canucks announced that they have traded defenceman Ryan Bonni to the Toronto Maple Leafs for future considerations.
Bonni, 23, had a split season in the 2001-02 season playing with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL and the ECHL's Columbia Inferno. With the Moose, Bonni registered one assist in 11 AHL matches with 33 penalty minutes. He saw action in two AHL playoff games and had two penalty minutes. The Winnipeg, MB native also played with Columbia and in 46 ECHL contests, he scored three goals and 18 assists for 21 points with 128 PIM. He had the team's second highest plus/minus rating at +20. In four ECHL playoff games, Bonni contributed four assists and ten penalty minutes.
Bonni was Vancouver's 2nd choice, 34th overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
