Phantoms announce preseason schedule

(PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 7, 2003) - A rare match-up against the Philadelphia Flyers highlights the Philadelphia Phantoms' 2003 preseason schedule, which was released today. The Phantoms will play three of their four exhibition games in the Philadelphia area.
The preseason schedule commences on Friday, Sept. 19 at 1:00 p.m., when Philadelphia hosts the Albany River Rats at the Sovereign Bank Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J. The teams will then meet again on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J.
Philadelphia is back in action at home on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 4:00 p.m., when they take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Polonia Bank Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia. The preseason schedule then wraps up on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m., when the Phantoms take on their parent club at the Wachovia Spectrum.
The meeting between the Phantoms and Flyers will be the first since Sept. 21, 1999, when the clubs played a benefit game in memory of Flyers defenseman Dmitri Tertyshny, who passed away earlier that summer in a boating accident. The Flyers prevailed in the game, 6-1, in front of 15,462 fans at the Spectrum.
The Phantoms' preseason games at the two Flyers Skate Zones are open to the public and cost $10 per person, with a portion of the proceeds going to youth hockey programs. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, Aug. 19 and can be purchased at the respective Flyers Skate Zones, or by calling 856-309-4400 (Voorhees) or 215-618-0050 (Northeast). Information on tickets for the Phantoms-Flyers game will be forthcoming.
The Phantoms open the 2003-04 regular season on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Binghamton Senators at the Wachovia Spectrum.
