Peters, Terrell Named Players of the Week

Alexandria outfielder Samone Peters and Shreveport left-hander Jeff Terrell are the Daktronics Central League Players of the Week for the period ending Sunday, August 17.

Peters, 25, went 11-for-25 (.440) in six games, scoring nine runs, hitting two doubles, blasting five home runs and driving in 11 runs. He slugged 1.120 and recorded a .462 on-base percentage.

A six-year professional, Peters is in his first season in independent baseball after five years playing for rookie and Single-A clubs in the Cincinnati Reds organization. He also pitches for the Aces in relief.

Terrell, 22, is a rookie out of the University of Tennessee. He threw a five-hit shutout at Springfield/Ozark on August 15 and struck out 14 while walking two batters in his first complete game of the season. Terrell has allowed only one earned run in his last two starts covering 17 innings.
