Perron leads MAINEiacs comeback with natural hat trick

Lewiston, ME - They call it playoffs for a reason. Fans left the Androscoggin Bank Colisee tonight exausted from an adrenaline packed game 1 as the MAINEiacs came from behind to score 3 goals in the last 90 seconds of the game to take a 1-0 lead in this opening series.

David Perron scored a natural hat trick in dramatic style to lead Lewiston's comeback. After the Cataractes jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Bernier and Bourque-Leblanc. The MAINEiacs found twine for the first time with 1 second remaining on the clock in the second period as David Perron scored his first of 3.

In the third, it took 18 minutes in the final frame to finally score the equalizer, as Perron notched his 2 power play goal of the game at 18:35 of the third. It only took another 30 seconds for David Perron to get the hat trick as he pushed the pack in the back of the net in a crowded goal mouth scramble.

With the net empty, Chad Denny's clearing attempt went sailing the length of the ice into the back of the net for the added insurance marker.

With the win, Lewiston has a 1-0 lead in this best of 7 opening series. Game 2 is set for tomorrow night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee with puck drop at 7:00pm. Tickets are available at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee Box Office when it opens tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 pm.
