Peoria Pirates Announce Player Open Tryouts

PEORIA, IL - (September 20, 2007) The Peoria Pirates coaching staff announces they will be holding open tryouts for those individuals wanting to be part of the team for the 2008 season. The tryout is open to any athlete, including kickers, interested in playing for the Peoria Pirates of the af2 indoor football league.
Tryouts will be held Saturday, October 20th in Pekin , Illinois at the Dragon Dome located at 3401 Griffin Avenue , on indoor field turf. Participants are encouraged to wear shorts, t-shirts and turf shoes or molded cleats. Registration begins at 8:00 am with tryouts beginning immediately after. A registration of $50 (cash or money order only!) will be collected at registration. Participants will be required to sign a waiver prior to taking part in any activities. Events will include 40 yard dash, 5/10/5 Pro Shuttle, broad jump and position drills.
The Peoria Pirates have had approximately 60 players sign with an AFL, CFL or NFL team. The Pirates have appeared in 4 championship games in Coach Cowdrey's six seasons as head coach. The Peoria Pirates are looking to make it back to the Arena Cup.
