Peoria announces name, sponsors, logo

Peoria, IL. The ABA Peoria expansion team has announced its team name and logo and also the first group of sponsors for the team's inaugural season.

The team has reached an agreement with Brewers Distributing Company of Peoria to bve the premier and naming sponsor of the team. Coach Sergio McClain's team will begin play in November in the Central Division of the White Conference of the ABA as the PEORIA KINGS.

"We are very pleased to announce our agreement with Brewers Distributing," said King's GM Mike Van Antwerp. "George Jacob and David Tidd have been extremely supportive of our efforts to bring professional basketball to Peoria and we look forward to working with them."

The Kings' logo combines a crown, an ABA basketball and the skyline of Peoria with the team colors black and red. The team will play its 18 game home schedule at the RiverPlex with season tickets going on sale in the near future.

In addition to Brewers Distributing, the team also revealed that Muir Omni Graphics, eServ, Alwan & Sons Meat Co. and Danner's Salads have signed on as initial sponsors of the Kings. "We are very appreciative to all our sponsors who have stepped forward to help us put the Kings on the court," said Van Antwerp.

The Kings also announced they have partnered with Midwest Orthopaedic Center to provide physician and trainer services for the team. Midwest Orthopaedic will have a trainer on hand at every practice as well as a team physician and trainer courtside for every home game.

"This is a very important partnership for us and we are happy to be working with such an exceptional physicians' group," said Van Antwerp. Midwest Orthopaedic Center SC is the largest and most diverse orthopaedic group in downstate Illinois and will soon be moving into a new, state-of-the-art strengthening and rehabilitation center on North Allen Road in Peoria.
