Jackson Generals News Release
JACKSON, TENN. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Arizona Diamondbacks, fell victim to four home runs in a Saturday evening loss to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, 11-4. A crowd of over 5,000 packed The Ballpark at Jackson and saw right-hander Bo Takahashi (0-2, 7.84 ERA) deal a season-best seven innings, but six late runs by the visiting Blue Wahoos (1-2) handed the Generals (2-1) their first defeat of the Southern League's Second Half.
Takahashi allowed a second-inning dinger to Pensacola's Gavin LaValley and pair of home runs to Taylor Sparks, including one of the inside-the-park variety. Takahashi finished with ten strikeouts and did not walk a batter in his longest Double-A appearance, but it was not enough to win. Daniel Robertson homered for the Generals as part of a four-run fifth inning against Pensacola's Seth Varner (4-0, 2.61 ERA), but the Generals did not score in any other inning, as Sparks' second jack reclaimed the lead for the visitors in the seventh. Jose Siri's eighth inning blast off Kirby Bellow pushed the lead to 7-4, and TJ Friedl's ninth-inning bases-clearing double against Mason McCullough effectively nailed the coffin shut.
The four home runs by a Generals opponent are the most in 2018, as Pensacola scored more runs Saturday (11) than they had in seven prior contests against Jackson (8). Takahashi collected his first hit as a professional in the loss, a double in the third inning.
