PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Bloomington Thunder gave up four power play goals and a hat trick by Pensacola's Adam Pawlick as the Ice Flyers defeated the Thunder 8-3 on Saturday night at the Pensacola Bay Center.

The Ice Flyers opened the scoring just 3:11 into the game when Joshua Turnbull took a cross-ice feed from Corey Banfield and blasted the score from the left circle. The Thunder evened the contest on a Travis Granbois blast from the high slot deflected in by Curtis Megginson on a power play with 3:58 showing before the first intermission. The Ice Flyers regained a 2-1 lead with 1:22 left in the opening period when Malcolm Lyles flipped the puck from behind the goal line to the crease where it went off a Thunder skate and into the net.

Pensacola increased the lead to 3-1 on a power play goal just 1:19 into the middle chapter on Adam Pawlick's rebound tally. Another power play goal put the Ice Flyers up 4-1 when Roman Andrejev put back a flurry with 13:06 left in the second period. A Pawlick wraparound with 5:00 remaining put the hosts ahead 5-1, but Paul D'Agostino elevated a running blast from the high slot 21 seconds later to cut the deficit to 5-2 going into the second intermission.

The hosts equaled their largest lead when Joe Caveney converted a 2-on-1 rush 2:05 into the third period for a 6-2 advantage. Nic Polaski grabbed his third goal of the season just 3:49 into the final period on his running tally from the slot assisted by Ryan MacLeod and Brandon Parkhouse to cut the Flyers lead to 6-3. Pawlick completed the hat trick with 4:24 remaining just after another power play expired when he pounded home a shot at close range from the right side for a 7-3 lead. A Keegan Flaherty redirect on a power play with 1:44 left set the final score.

Ross MacKinnon took the win in goal with 28 saves while Max Strang suffered the loss with 29 stops. The loss was the worst losing margin for the Thunder this season.
