Pennsylvania Falls to Akron 2-1

Pennsylvania Rebellion News Release

The Pennsylvania Rebellion, presented by The Coury Financial Group, clung to a short lead for most of the contest, but a strong push late in the game by the visiting Akron Racers resulted in a 2-1 defeat. Sarah Pauly took the loss for Pennsylvania while Lisa Norris earned the win.

The Rebellion's lone run came in the bottom of the first inning when designated player Courtney Liddle rocketed a double into left that scored left fielder Brittney Lindley.

On the defensive side, catcher Taylor Edwards helped her pitcher immensely by throwing out two Racers on the base paths. The rest of the Pennsylvania defense showed some flair as they clung to their 1-0 lead heading into the sixth inning.

As shutdown as the Rebellion defense was, however, it is very difficult to defend against a home run. Akron capitalized on the long ball in the top of the sixth when second baseman Ashley Thomas and shortstop Nerissa Meyers each knocked a solo home run to tie and eventually overtake Pennsylvania, giving Akron a 2-1 lead late in the contest.

The one-run deficit was too much to overcome in the bottom of the seventh for the Rebellion, giving the contest to Akron and marking Pennsylvania's sixth-straight loss.
