
Penn FC Signs Dan Metzger

Harrisburg, PA - Penn FC announced the signing of veteran midfielder Dan Metzger on Tuesday. Pending USL and USSF approval, Metzger's presence in the midfield will be a welcomed addition to the Harrisburg club for this inaugural season.
Metzger is an accomplished USL veteran, spending his most recent stint with the New York Red Bulls II. From 2015-2017, he made 66 appearances and started in 56 of those matches. Metzger scored three goals on three shots during his 2016 campaign, helping the Red Bulls II win the 2016 USL Regular Season Championship, the USL Eastern Conference Championship and the USL Cup. After two stellar seasons with the second team, Metzger was called up to the New York Red Bulls of the MLS in 2017 and made his debut in July of that year against the New England Revolution.
Metzger was originally drafted by DC United in the MLS Superdraft in 2015 following his career at the University of Maryland. He played for the Terrapins from 2011-2014 while earning All-ACC First Team honors in 2013 and All-Big Ten First Team honors in 2014. Metzger and his teammates made the NCAA tournament all four years and finished as the National Runner-Up in 2013. The team collected the ACC Championship in 2012 and 2013 before winning the Big Ten Championship in 2014.
The Holmdel, New Jersey native represented his country on the US Men's U18, U20 and U23 teams. While competing with the U23 team, Metzger and his teammates finished third in the 2015 Toulon Tournament.
Metzger is the third midfielder signed to the Penn FC roster in 2018. The current roster is as follows:
